Victory Receives National GWBC Certfication
Victory Bolt & Specialty, a full line fastener master distributor stocking both domestic and direct imported products, received national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the GWBC, a regional certification partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise Council (WBENC).
WBENC’s national standard of certification implemented by the GWBC is a meticulous process including and in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.
By including women-owned businesses among their vendors, corporations, and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity and the continued development of their supplier/vendor diversity programs.
About WBENC
The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council is the nation’s largest third party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States. WBENC is a resource for the more than 700 US companies and government agencies that rely on WBENC’s certification as an integral part of their supplier diversity program.
Stainless steel fasteners being magnetic…
From time to time we receive calls stating stainless steel fasteners we supplied are magnetic and there must be something wrong with them since stainless is non-magnetic.
This is a myth and one of the bigger misconceptions in the fastener industry and we will explain in more detail to calm some of the confusion…
Some alloys, particularly 410 and 18-8 types, which include 302 and 304SS, may exhibit magnetic properties after being subjected to the severe stresses produced when cold forming (for example: forming the head during fastener manufacturing processes). This is especially true when cold forming smaller items such as screws. Cold forming occurs in the wire drawing, forming, and thread rolling process. Each of the processes will, typically, create enough martensite (a change from austenite) to produce a measurable degree of magnetism.
Without a complete annealing treatment of the post cold worked part, it will never have zero magnetism. We have additional professionally researched articles that will provide additional information should it be needed.
